Our Story

Journey Church began in 2015, but its origins started in 2002, where a small church on the outskirts of Amarillo served the Greyhawk Community. The church had humble beginnings, and in early 2004 the first phase of the building was completed, followed by an addition which was completed in 2006.

On Easter Sunday 2015, Hollywood Road Community Church officially became Journey Church.

In late 2016, Journey began building a new addition just for kids. On Easter Sunday 2017, the new 7,500 square foot Journey Kids space opened. This modern and state-of-the-art facility is the perfect place for kids to hang out with their friends, but most importantly, to meet Jesus.

In 2018, Journey Students (7th-12th grades) was born and this ministry quickly became one of our most successful.

At Journey you will experience inspiring worship, Biblical Sermons, groups to be a part of and so many more ministries. At Journey, we don’t just want members, we want devoted Christians who are ready to serve.

Journey Church is blessed with phenomenal pastors and staff. Each year new faces serve, lead and grow our church.

Journey’s mission since day one has been “Encountering God, Engaging Together, Empowering Change.” This mission symbolizes the simple truth that we believe that we cannot change anyone, but that Jesus can. We believe people are formed, shaped and changed by an encounter with Jesus, and our ONLY JOB is to arrange the meeting.
